World Malaria Day, 25 April 2022

World Malaria Day is marked annually on 25 April to focus global attention on malaria and its devastating impact on families, communities and societal development. The theme for this year is; “Harness innovation to reduce the malaria disease burden and save lives”, aligns with the call to urgently scale up innovation and the deployment of new tools in the fight against malaria, while advocating for equitable access to malaria prevention and treatment, within the context of building health system resilience.

TUBERCULOSIS (TB) in Vanuatu continues to be a Public Health problem as it continues to affect the lives of people. Report from the Department of Public Health shows that new cases are reported each year and is a medium burden TB country in the Pacific context.

Dengue Press Release No.1_07th February 2021

The Ministry of Health would like to update the public on the current dengue outbreak situation in Port Vila. From 4th February 2022, two dengue cases were confirmed at Vila Central Hospital. These cases had no recent history of travel outside of Vanuatu so the dengue was locally acquired and were identified in the areas of Efate’s peri- urban areas of Erakor and Salili. No suspected or confirmed cases have been reported in other provinces or islands.
