The Ministry of Health Asset Management Unit (AMU) is a national support unit within the Directorate of Corporate Services, Policy and Planning.
The role of the AMU encompasses the design, construction, commissioning, operating, maintaining, repairing, modifying, replacing and decommissioning/disposal of all physical and infrastructure assets across all levels of health facilities (Dispensary, Health Centre, Provincial Hospital, Referral Hospital, Provincial Administration and National Administration) within all six Provinces.
Infrastructure assets include all buildings, water and power supplies, communications, transport and medical equipment.
In addition to implementing annual Capital Plans approved by the MOH Executive and funded by recurrent budget the AMU works closely with Donor Partners to assist with the execution of their various infrastructure projects within the Vanuatu Health Sector.
AMU has played a key role in delivering the Health Sector Infrastructure and Equipment Cyclone Pam Recovery Program.
Recently AMU has been involved with the Department Of Energy in conducting Energy Audits of hospital facilities as a baseline for instigating energy saving policies and best practices.
